Telling the trouth

Being busy lately isn't just an excouse, it became a real problem.

Most time of the day I spend on doing work for the college, at the moment I'm having 3 large projects to do until end of semester(17th of January), where two of them are realization of a veichle, that follows the line drawn on table and the other is artificial finger - at first sight just a finger, further whole hand.

Third project is designing and drawing in dimensions an old American trench knife, US 1918 in CATIA. All of these projects are kinda big to me, because I have about 1-2 exams per week, so I spend a lot of time off-computer.

I hope I will find time for blog soon!

Damast dagger #10

This is one of my far best knives ever, it's a damascus dagger! I've wanted it for really long time and not so long ago, there was an opportunity!

(Beside, I'm planing on making "best of" of my knives as soon as I finish uploading them)

So, this is it! This is my damascus steel dagger! The blade itself is long 157 millimeters, wide 35 millimeters and 5 millimeters thick.

It's very symetrical, very precise made. Between the sharp part and the handle, on both sides knife has cutted grooves, which can give support for thumb(if holding that way).

Above, there is part from damascus steel, which has several grooves and is attached to blade with 5 damascus steel pins.

Even further above, there is wooden part(walnut, ofc.), which fits very accurate to upper damascus part. Even in radius like that!

Well, the wooden part is also attached to blade, just this time with 6 brass pins.

Knife sheat is made from 4 millimeters thick leather, it's color is something ebtween bordoux red and brown color, it is very well stiched together, has on top strap to hold knife in and loop for belt.

The knife is massive, it's a really good knife! And sharp too!

Lockback damast knife #9

This knife is one of my first I received, it probably has serial number under 10.

The blade is 85 millimeters long and 4 millimeters thick and is shaped somehow as a feather..Or just I see it that way.

To wooden, walnut and damascus combination handle with brass pins, is blade attached with a brass screw from both sides. Wooden part of handle is attached to the middle part with 5 brass pins from each side, while the damascus part with 2 screws M4 from both sides.

Middle part is made from 2 millimeters thick brass plate, which works as spring for lock and is decorated with different shaped grooves all around. On the back, there's also a stainless steel part(which is also decorated), which prevents the blade from turning all around the axis.

Small brass pin attached to blade helps it to open or close.

Knife sheat is made for this knife, it fits perfectly. It's made from 3 millimeters thick black leather, thich has leather strap on back for belt and pin on top, for lock knife safely.

2 kubotans with dagger blades

Here are 2 kubotans I received this week. A friend from USA send them to me, as a gift.

There are two colors, the silver one is from stainless steel, while the black one is from regular steel and is gun blued; blades on both of them are made from stainless steel, are both edged and both razor sharp.

The handle has 15 millimeters in diameter and while it's closed, it's 105 millimeters long. It has rough grooves  on the outside, for much much better grip. If you unscrew the last part of the handle, you get out 60 millimeters long dagger style blade, that can be screwed back to handle, and you get a knife.

On bottom, there's a drilled through hole, that has attached a keychain ring, so it can grab your thumb.

Quite simple, effective and dangerous weapon!

Yugoslavian bayonet M-48

This is old Yugoslavian bayonet from a rifle M-48 I purchased in November, but I completed it last week; the leather I got.

M-48 rifle is actually a identical Yugoslavian copy of German Karabin 98 - They were manufacturing them after World War II., mostly in city Preduzeče(Serbia)...and so these bayonets.

It's made from not so quality steel(although, the bayonet is used for stabbing and slashing, not exactly cutting or ripping), it has rounded groove for the nearly whole lenght of the blade.

Guard has a hole 15 millimeters in diameter drilled through, it's used for attaching the bayonet to the rifle. Same as the groove on the back side of handle, where is located a spring in a button, that keeps the bayonet at it's spot.

Wooden plates are attached to knife with two steel nuts, firstly screwed together, then hammered and filed down. It's quite compact alltogether.

The back of the handle is shaped as most of bayonets, for grip, that is hard to be pulled out of hand -> an eagle's head.

Stamps on knife are two triangles, PREDUZEČE 44 (town, where it was made and factory number) and a serial number - 65642.

Scabbard is made from two parts, metal and leather part: Metal scabbard is long 270 millimeters and 40 millimeters wide at it's widest point. It has a spring in it, to prevent the bayonet from falling out.
The leather part is attached onto scabbard through a small hole, that hardly fits to a metal grip. On top of it, it has belt for tighting the blade into scabbard and a loop for belt.

All metal parts are blued, same as scabbard.

Leather is black/dark grey colout and is double stiched.

Making a small dagger #2

So, here's just a quick update to this small dagger;

So, I drilled all 6 holes through, five-times 3 millimeters and once a 6 millimeter hole, all of them got cut off sharp edges on both sides.

Second thing done is brass pipe, 6x1 millimeters and it's about 16 millimeters long. It's far too long, but I will cut it of at bolting plates on knife. It took me ~5 minutes to make on lathe(PIC) from brass rod, 12 millimeters diameter.
On top of picture is also seen a brass rod, 3 millimeters diameter and lenght of about half a meter; it will be used for bolting plates on knife too. Just cut the sticks (about 10-12 millimeters long), add them to the plates and hammer once or twice, so there will be a nice rounded edge.

Procedure:

Drawing the design
Drawing it onto material
Cutting it out of material
Grinding the material to get the exact shape
Surface grinding
Marking the holes
Drilling the holes
Making the brass pipe
Grinding down the cutting edge(4)
Hardening
Quenching
Sanding(to get off scrap)
Drawing the plates to wood
Shaping the wooden plates
Bluing
Attaching plates to knife(bolting)
Sanding wooden plates down
Varnishing wooden plates

Making a small dagger #1

This is just a procedure, how I'm making a very small dagger, which is quite simple to make..if you're making it from a soft material.

I'm using material called OSIKRO 4, discovered and made in Železarna Ravne (Metal Ravne), Slovenia, Europe. This material is very hard(after hardening and quenching), is used for industral cutting tools(mills, drills and lathe knives). Because of it's oxidation, I will have to make sure(after it's done) to keep it from rust; by bluing it.

Here's just a cutout of material(100x30millimeters), it's CNC surface grinded(from both sides) down to 3.5 millimeters, brushed from all sides, so it's symmetrical.

Here's just a block of wallnut's root wood, which need to be cut down for plates for this dagger.

The sheet will be made from black leather, probably shaped as arrow.

Procedure:

Drawing the design
Drawing it onto material
Cutting it out of material
Grinding the material to get the exact shape
Surface grinding
Marking the holes
Drilling the holes
Making the brass pipe
Grinding down the cutting edge(4)
Hardening
Quenching
Sanding(to get off scrap)
Drawing the plates to wood
Shaping the wooden plates
Bluing
Attaching plates to knife(bolting)
Sanding wooden plates down
Varnishing wooden plates

"Upgrade" of an old knuckle duster - engraving

So this is some kind of an upgrade of one of my old knuckle dusters.

Well, I just came to idea, that I should pay more attention to engraving and modifying knuckle dusters; not just making them.

So I dedicated this knuckle duster to one of my fav hard rock bands, to Motorheads!

The engraving is Motorhead logo title, in their own font.it measures 50x15 millimeters, it's about 0.05 millimeters deep and it's blackened with acryl color.

(here's just a band of my friends, who are making polka out of different music - this time Ace of spades by Motorhead )

Bowie damast knife #8

Another nice bowie knife from my Damascus steel knife collection.

Blade thicknes is 5 millimeters, it's lenght is 230 millimeters, it's shaped nearly like a bowie style.
On top, brushed "blade" part isn't quite thin enough, to sharpen it from both sides, so I just left it blunt.

I think it's best way to leavie it like this. I'm just too afraid of my knives, to get hurt or something.

The guard is made from damascus steel also, it's oval shaped, dimensions are 30x50 millimeters(approximately), while it's nearly 8 millimeters thick.

The handle is very close to cilinder shape, but very slightly oval; it's brushed and polished very smooth, so it keeps in hand quite well; no splinters at all..even though, it's not varnished.

The knife sheat is made fom 2 times stiched together swine leather, while the colour is bordoux red(I don't know if it's seen from pictures because of the red background).

Long damast knife with ebony handle #7

So this is a long damascus steel knife with black ebony handle.

The thickness of this blade is 5 millimeters, while the lenght of itself is 230 millimeters. On top of the blade, there are 2 surfaces brushed down, so the knife looks even more beautiful.

The handle is made from black ebony wood and is 115 millimeters long, while the shape of handle itself is very hand-shaped, which means it really fits like a glove!

On the end, there is a damascus steel nut, which keeps the guard, blade and handle together. It is slightly oval and hasn't any particular geometrycal shape, but is well rounded around the shape of ebony handle.

In the middle of the knife, there is a oval hand guard, which has a groove all around it.

It came with !VERY! quality cow-leather sheat, which fits perfectly for it and has safety pin, which keeps knife in it and leather strap, to attach it to belt.

The knife is sharp as fuck!

Skinning damast knife #6

This is one of latest damast knvies, I received..

Blade thickness is exactly 5 millimeters, while it's lenght is 98.89 millimeters.

The handle is made from two wallnut plates, both are connected to the blade itself by 7 imbus screws EACH.

This knife REALLY fits into hand perfectly, you nearly can't feel holding it, fingershaped handle really is comfort made.

Two plates, which serve as knife guard, are made from stainless steel and are attached with two stainless steel bolts.

The whole knife is long about 190 millimeters and chloryzied is only the blade.

Knife is razor sharp.

The knife came in quality brown leather sheet, which is very deep for knife and has a loop for belt on the back.

Lockback damast knife in leather sheat #5

Here's the knife I received last week..It came in package with Damast lockback #4 ...

The blade lenght is 90 millimeters, while it's 3.5 millimeters thick. It's really a compact knife, you know?!

The handle is made partly from walnut's root and the black part is from buffalo's horn. It's well polished, so it's really smooth. Both plates(on both sides) are connected to knife handle with 2 imbus screws.

The middle part of knife is made frmo 3 sections of brass plates; 2 are just distancers and the middle one is used as spring.

All parts except the wood and horn(including blade, brass distancers and stainless steel distancer) are having remarkable, very beaufitul grooves and samples.

The whole knife is long about 200 millimeters.

The blade is sharp. I mean...SHARP.

Lockback damast knife in leather sheat #4

Damast knife, I got this tuesday.

The lenght of the blade is 85 millimeters, which means, it's slightly bigger pocket knife. The thickness od the blade itself is just a little bit more that 3.5 millimeters. The whole knife is 200 millimeters long.

The handle thickness is between 16 and 20 millimeters, depends on which spot. This gives the knife an excellent grip, and it fits in fist really great. Lenth of the handle is about 115 millimeters.

It's partly made from damascus steel and partly from elephant's tooth. It's attached to knife by screws.

It's attached to the blade by steel bolt, which is covered under damascus steel plate.

Knife sheat is double stished together by 2 sheats of leather. It's very compact and very resitant.

The knife already shave my left arm. Sharp as hell.

Beautiful damast knife in leather sheat #3

Yesterday I received another beautiful damascus knife.

The lenght of the blade is 140 millimeters, which means, that this is kind a big knife. The thickness of the blade itself is 5 millimeters.

Entire knife, including handle is long 270 millimeters.

The handle is frmo walnut root wood, and it's not perfectly rounded. It's kinda shaped like gear stick in the car, but perfectly hand made, with smooth finish.

Handle and blade are connected by a brass bolt.

Between the wooden part of handle and a blade, there is a oval distancer, which is also made from damascus steel. It's not perfectly rounded and has a groove all around.

Blade is sharp as fuck, shaving :). And cutting my skin, sometimes :D

Knife sheat is made from hard black leather, which has safety pin, to keep the knife in. On the back side, there is a leather strap, which gives ability to attach the sheat to the belt.

Damast trench knife in leather sheat

Just received a package, which included this damast trench knife(as I called it).

The lenght of the blade is 230 millimeters, which means, that this is hell-of-a-knife. The thickness od the blade itself is 5 millimeters. The whole knife is long somewhere between 360 and 370 millimeters.

The handle is walnut wood, and it's not perfectly rounded. It's slightly oval shaped, for far better grip. Afterall, it is coated with somekinda oil or something water resistant.

On both sides of tha handle there are 2 small 3-4 millimeters thick distancers, which has small grooves in them, just for better look and are also made from damast.

Blade is attached to the handle by the metal rod, that goes throught the guard, handle and small distancers, and is tightened at the end by also damast nut.

Around the handle, there is a guard, that could be used as protection from fingers and/or for hitting, in way of knuckle duster. It hasn't section for each finger, but certanly is very useful. It measures from 22 to 33 millimeters into wideness, and has rounded and "spiked" sort of grooves on each side all over for really great look.

The blade is abnormally sharp, shaved rest of my arm as soon as I got it into hands.

The knife sheat is made from high quality leather, on top has loop to attach the knife to the belt and also a protection belt, to keep the knife in the sheat, to prevent falling out in any position/rotation.
It's decorated with sun-looking stamps over the front side of the sheat.
